Whether you’ve danced for years or just began dancing this past September you can find a place in the PacWest Performing Company. The Performing Company participates in three, mandatory competitions February through May, performs in our annual Company Showcase in January, and select Company dances (as well as the required recreational classes) perform in our four June recitals. The Company photo shoot occurs in December. If your family is unable to commit to these events or the required classes and intensives needed for Company participation, you’re encouraged to train in our recreational program. The Performing Company trains throughout the summer and multiple times a week during the school year. If you’d like to know more about the PacWest Performing Company or the accompanying financial commitments, speak to Kelly directly. You may also ask to see the Performing Company Contract from last year, which explains in detail all of the financial and time commitments.
**Keep in mind that the entry fees set by competition companies are approximately $110 for solos, $65 per dancer for duos/trios, and $55 per dancer for groups. These are not PacWest fees.** Competition entry fees are due with September, October, and November tuition.
1. Before The Audition parents and dancers must fill out the audition questionnaire. Please submit the questionnaire by May 13th. Audition fees will be due the day of the audition without exception.
2. Solo/Duo/Trio Auditions will go in the order they were registered. Please register at the front desk. Dancers are not required to audition for a group in order to audition for a solo/duo/trio. It is important that dancers and parents speak to the choreographer before the audition so there are no scheduling surprises. Teachers have limited private lesson slots in their fall schedule and will be selective. Each dancer must come prepared with 30 seconds of student choreography in the style they wish to have a solo/duo/trio. New this year: Duo/trio auditions will take place with the other duo/trio partners. Speak to an admin about renting a classroom for the duo/trio dancers to use for choreographing. On the day of the audition please have music queued and ready on a device, or email it to Kelly beforehand. Solo/duo/trio choreography begins in the summer.
3. Group Auditions will take place in Lake Stevens Studio 2. Dancers may audition for groups outside their age range but please speak to Kelly first. Dancers are to arrive 10 minutes before their first audition and begin warming up in Studio 1. Dancers will be called into Studio 2 for each audition. The Studio 2 waiting room will be closed during auditions. Please wear appropriate dancewear – dance shorts that fit correctly, fitted tops that do not flip up when upside down, full coverage sports bras under tank tops or leotards, and no midriff tops. Loose clothing is appropriate for tap and hip hop only. Hair is to be secured away from the face and should not be touched during auditions. Bring all dance shoes.
**Please ask an admin for the school year class schedule draft to see when Company groups are scheduled. A choreography fee of $100 per group will be assessed for withdrawing from the Company between August 7th and our June 2018 recitals.
**Dancers who cannot attend the group auditions will not be considered for Performing Company groups. Soloists may audition on a different date but audition fees plus private lesson fees will be required.
**Company groups must have a minimum of 6 dancers to run.
